Biology
(SCI 301)
This biology course is provides laboratory and content instruction equivalent to a first year general biology course in college. This will enable some students to either fulfill their college laboratory science requirements or to enter an advanced course in biology during their freshman year. Primary emphasis in this biology course will be on developing an understanding of concepts, a grasp of science as a process rather than an accumulation of facts, personal experience in scientific inquiry, recognition of unifying themes that integrate the major topics of biology and the application of biological knowledge and critical thinking to environmental and social concerns.
Special Note: Because evolutionary theory has been used as a unifying them for the study of biology and the success of the Biology CLEP test is contingent on being knowledgeable about this theory, of necessity, the theory of evolution will be included in the instruction of this course. Evolution will be presented within a Christian perspective.
